Man, where has the time gone? Mostly spent in teacher trainings which were good but not where you really want to be in summer. I did finish Where’d You Go Bernadette on audio this week. I have to say, it was not worth all the hype. I was really not very impressed. Not on my suggestion list for anyone.
I came across Finding Gobi while walking through Costco on Sunday. It looked interesting since it is about running and a dog- two of my passions. In two evenings, I am already half way through. I am really enjoying it.
And, speaking of running, I finally drug myself out this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks. It was awesome! Why don’t I do this every day? I really should- so, I sat down just now and went through my running log, setting goals for the next few months- through November really. I am signed up for a 10K in October but am thinking I will change it to a half marathon if I am able and will train as if it is a half. That means really rededicating myself. So, if there’s anyone out there training, I could really use the support!
Here is the latest quilt finish. Yay! I finally have a finish! It is a graduation quilt for a cousin. He is planning on attending UNM – Cherry and Silver! I think he really liked it. Everyone at his grad party liked it so that was nice. I also got some really nice comments from friends. It makes you remember why you create, I mean, other than the fact that I just LOVE to do it- except the binding- I HATE TO HAND SEW BINDING!!!!!
Here is the back- a jelly roll race with “scraps”. I wanted to quilt it with grey varigated but I didn’t have enough and of course, waited too long to order it. So, I ended up using white but I really like how it turned out. I love that circles pattern. I looked for others- wolf themed since the UNM mascot is a Mexican wolf/Lobo but didn’t find any that I liked so went with the bubble look that I already knew I liked. I also really love the washable wool batting- not sure I will ever use anything else for my own projects anymore. People continue to bring me warm & natural for quilting their projects but it is so much harder to get the tension correct on the machine and the wool stays so puffy and nice.
Can’t remember if I posted this picture already. It’s my 3 mini poos after going to the new groomer. I like this one a lot! My dedicated running partner- black standard poodle, Jack- went as well (see below) and they did a great job on him. He is a challenge since he has a skin issue that makes him loose his hair. His poor un-docked tail is almost bald.
Goals for today: load a quilt on the machine- one made by my cousin, laundry (since I had to dig up dirty socks to wear running this morning- I know, gross!!! but my son raids my drawer rather than do his own laundry) maybe some errands 😦 and definitely some more reading about Gobi!
Happy summer!
