UFO year

IMG_1048(Edited)I have decided to join the Patchwork and Quilting UFO challenge this year.  This is the quilt I chose to work on first since I had not yet created my list.  I had these triangles block from a BlockLotto win last year.  Here is what I thought was my finished top a week or so ago.  But, the more I thought about it, the more I though “I just really don’t like that quilt…”

So, I decided I could either donate the top, or do something to it that would make me like it more.  But, I had very few reds in my stash, so off to the store I went yesterday after work.

IMG_1098I found this fabric at the quilt shop, that I loved!  but that was really the only one.  So I headed to Joann’s which is always a back up.

I found a few I could live with in combo with what I had left at home.

Now the quilt looks like this…

Hard to see much difference, I know.  But, I do like it much better even if it is not just a “WOW!” quilt.  I do not have time to get it quilted any time soon so it will go to hanging in limbo for awhile.  I did pick up a nice neutral flannel for the backing yesterday though, so, when I have the urge to get the machine going, it will be ready.

IMG_1094During my sick days this week, I felt good enough to sew for about 5 minutes, so, I did some test blocks for my son’s graduation quilt.  This is the pattern he chose.  It took some figuring out but I think it is going to turn out to be a really great quilt.

Unfortunately, on my excursion to the fabric store yesterday, I also found a bunch of other fabric that made it’s way home with me and new projects in mind.  I went for purple and red and came home with much more and not enough purple so I have to venture out again soon.

IMG_1082 Very little progress has been made on my Super Scarf but I hope to get it finished in the next week!  I want to wear it a time or two before the warm weather returns.  Not that it’s very cold here anyway.  19 degrees in the morning but as soon as the sun comes up, it warms right up to about 55.  NO snow.  what a disappointing winter.  I love a good snow or two!

Happy Weekend!
