I finished this quilt yesterday. Made from my husband’s discarded Aloha Shirts, green border from my stash, freshly purchased border fabric, and the red binding from my stash. Its approximately 60 inches square. I can’t wait to take a nap under it.
The backing is also from my stash, Hard to see here but brown with a cream colored flower.
Here is an up close of the hibiscus quilting- its actually called “Hawaiian Holiday” I believe and is a pattern that was in my long arm computer when I purchased it.
I am seriously trying to use up my stash- which will take awhile…
Today I hope to finish piecing the following…
I purchased 1 yard of “Flower Child -Sisterhood” because I knew it would be a great way to help use up some stash. All of the other fabrics came from my stash. the newest one is the swan which was purchased last summer in Denver. Some of those others have been percolating for years and years- a decade at least? At the bottom of this picture, you can see a green piece with Kookaburras (spelling?) that a quilting friend sent me from Australia.
I started by fussy cutting the busts at 4.5 X 6 inches. The strips are just 2.5 inch strips from my scrap strip box or were cut from larger scraps/fat quarters. I am not sure what sort of border I will add yet, maybe a plain ivory then a piano key? I want it to be queen size when I finish. Then I will back it with pieces from my stash.
I am also trying to do a lot of cutting so that I have many projects ready to stitch up. This stash and unfinished project list has got to go! I have so many partially finished projects that if I would just focus, I would have so many quickly finished quilts! I do have to order more batting though. This rolls is going to be gone very soon!
happy scrappy summer!
