Making an Apron

I finally got around to sewing my apron that I started a couple of weeks ago. I used a Simplicity Pattern that I have had for a long time, and fabric that I had in my stash. I do not enjoy sewing clothes and I am not good at it but I have SOOOO much fabric that I need to use it any chance I get. I am not thrilled with how it fits. The bib could be wider but too late now. Also, I followed the pattern for placement of the ties and they are not exactly at the correct angle.

This is the first time I have put Ric Rac on anything other than towels. Really glad I did, I like that part a lot!

I was definitely thinking about my mother as I was sewing this. She sewed clothes and taught me lots of tricks that I used while making this. Things they don’t tell you in the pattern.

This is to wear at our church cooking group that I go to once per month. Tomorrow we are all bringing Cajun dishes and will be learning about Mardi Gras. I still have to head out to the grocery for my ingredients.

Here is the back. The ties crisscross and then go through the loops before you tie. I used ribbon for the loops rather than make them. I didn’t have enough to use it as the ties as well though.
